Individual Assignment #4: Chapters 1-6 Due Wednesday, November 3
  • Put a new line between assignments #3 and #4.
  • Put your answer ABOVE the previous assignment.
  • Copy this assignment to your page.
  • Add the date above this assignment.
  • Start a plot line. Identify the setting first.
  • Add two or three key events from each chapter that we have read - chapters 1-6 – reflecting on the rising action.
  • Identify each chapter and put the two or three events as complete sentences under the chapter number.
  • For example:
Setting
At Indian Island, right near Devon which is off the coast of England
Chapter 1
  • Each person is invited to the island.
  • It shows what each persons invitational letter says.
Chapter 2
  • They are getting acquainted with each other.
  • They are starting to have flash back of the time that they commited the crime. Some of them see the poem on the wall about the ten little indian boys.
Chapter 3
  • They all go into a room and have dinner.
  • They hear a voice over a loud speaker and it says what who each person is supposed to have murdered but got away with it.
  • They hear plates crashing and they see that Mrs. Rogers had fainted
  • They all discus their acusations but Emily Brent refuses to talk about it
  • Lombard admites that he killed 21 natives
Chapter 4
  • Marston chokes to death on his drink
  • They keep having flashbacks of their accusations
Chapter 5
  • They are having controversy over if Marston killed himself or was poisoned.
Chapter 6
  • Mr. Rogers wakes up Dr. Armstrong because his wife won't wake up and Dr. Armstrong said that she is, in fact, dead
  • Mr. Rogers says very panicking that there are only eight dolls instead of ten.

Good story summaries. Pay more attention to spelling, punctuation, and capitalization so that your answers reflect 8th grade work.

Chapter 7
  • Emily Brent tells Vera about her accusation of killing Beatrice Taylor
  • General McArthur admits that he killed his wives lover.
Chapter 8
  • They think that someone on the island is picking them off one by one.
  • They go around the island to find where the killer is.
Chapter 9
  • Blore accuses Dr. Armstrong of giving Mrs. Rogers an overdose
  • They start to blame each other on all of the killings
  • General Macarthur is killed by getting hit in the back of the head with a brick
  • Judge Wargrave tells them that it must be one of them, not a murderer. He tells them to be on their guard
Chapter 10
  • Rogers notices that the bathroom curtains are missing
  • Since the weather is still terrible, they can't get off the island,they are honestly scared out of their minds.
Chapter 11
  • Lombard does not know why their morning tea has not been brought to them yet
  • They find out that Rogers is chopped up while he was chopping up sticks
  • Vera is starting to go crazy
Chapter 12
  • Emily Brent knows someone is in the room but she thinks it s Beatrice Taylor
  • Brent gets stabbed by a poisoned needle
  • Vera sees a bee so she thinks its the bee thats kills her.
Chapter 13

Jack - Once again you have a terrific start, but an unfinished assignment! You get penalized not because you do not understand the story or the plot line, but simply because you do not have it finished. : , (\

Assignment #3: Chapter 3 : Due Wednesday, October 27

  • Put a new line between assignments #2 and #3.
  • Copy the assignment to your page. (the red print)
  • Add the date at the top of your page.
  • Add your answers to the TOP of your page under the date.
  • Choose five characters from the story,
  • Write two sentences telling what you know about him or her.
  • BOLD the character's name and write your sentences about that character right underneath his or her name.

Jack, Jack, Jack....why isn't this finished??? You've had ample time in class and several nights to do this at home if you did not finish at school.. You are so much more capable than this - don't sell yourself short.

  • How does a mystery novel differ from a narrative
A mystery novel is different from a narrative because a mystery is not going back on old events.


How might the title be a clue to the story?
I think it might give the end of the story away because And then there were none might mean that they all die.

Aren't there more differences or more clues? You're right that the title might give some clues away, but you could make some other logical predictions, right?

  • With your small group, find four examples of suspense OR foreshadowing in chapter two.
  • Each member of your group must write on his or her WIKI page the exact wording from the book - that means type the sentences exactly as they are written.
  • Then, in a well-written paragraph, explain why these sentences clearly show either suspense or foreshadowing.
